a day off… resting
October 16, 2007a day of rest was my spontaneous plan for today. it’s so hard to find the time to rest. so important and yet no-one demands it of you till you drop down, or the bags under your eyes start to show. i want to be resting more and guess it’s one of the most subversive things we can do in this culture… i read this weekend that someone at some computer company thought it’d be good to advertise with the slogan ‘Cash is King’, and get us to care about free stuff and good deals…
i was just annoyed that people might agree with that. what does it mean anyway? like we’re supposed to live for money?
well, rest doesn’t pay for anything, or give you worth, but you certainly can’t buy it. so seeing as time and rest (and the two at the same time) are really important to me; priceless even, i’m going to go with ‘Cash isn’t King’
cos it can’t buy me what is worthless to a rich man but treasure to the busy one
When you make the jump from the student life to working, days off become so precious! The tricky thing is resisting the temptation to make them so full of fun stuff that you end up more tired than before…! Sabbath is important, and was designed and ordained by God – perhaps that’s enough to make us pay attention and take rest seriously before we trip over the bags under our eyes…
hopefully that is enough…
