give up time moments from the other page

April 9, 2008

i think what i see more and more (and hear from others) is that the good things in life are worth waiting around for… i like these ones

wait for the dough to rise
wait for the person who’ll sweep you off your feet
wait til your wedding night
wait til you’re hungry for a good meal
wait so music means something-not just money
wait for someone to ask you
wait for an honest reply
wait for hope to rise
wait for God, foster waiting, establish the skill of listening, endure impatience until you enjoy the freedom to be outwith (out of) your own control

try reading alongside this post… the ‘i want it now’ story

it’s suprisingly along the same lines… brian has said we ought to live a ZERO compromise life… that doesn’t mean just waiting, but not allowing ourselves to rush in as fools.  making ourselves wait where applicable

Osterreich :: because of love

April 9, 2008

I’ve been in Austria recently. I travelled alone on the outbound journey. my surroundings made my eyes wide with wonder.  I passed through the alps.  I glimpsed another culture, someone else’s life. I was amazed at small things like apple flavour chewing gum. I was amazed at big things like celebrating Easter with 2000 people of many nations under IFES

What is left after a wonderful trip? memories, challenges, friends, ‘if onlys’ and the desire to travel- those are for me to know….

what is left after taking Easter to heart? : the challenge to live the risen life, not remain in the pre-passover one this one’s for me to share a little of for now…

at Easter we remember how the midday sun set for a few hours till Jesus died. then a few days later he took up life again, a life that had never been lived before: 100% God, 100% man having obeyed the ways of the Divine and related to the ways of mankind… i stood watching forgiveness, like a red garment, entwine around 2000 students from all walks of life and i record here some of the thoughts i picked up whilst i was there.

-your sin is worse than you think, you’re not perfect- ‘we carry the very nails in our pocket’ be real, ask for forgiveness, we all make mistakes… if you’re trusting in Jesus today, your sins are covered and forgiven

-Jesus dying on the cross leveled the ground for everyone… we all come to God with a sense and a reality of being in the same position before him

-like the Exodus from Egypt was a shadow of God’s rescue of us out of bondage into freedom- not under the law but under grace, not bound by guilt, but free to be forgiven and because of love, transformed

-we are the walking wounded, brought into the world by wounded souls… but he is the God who came, chose because of love to be wounded to empathize with and overcome our situation.

-we can stand, surrounded by the Love of God, because Jesus brings us all on level ground before him… he made it so that those who trust in him will be free from guilt. because of love our lives here are transformed and our future can be set in hope not hearsay (this is the beautiful hope that can be the ‘excitement of our lives’

-because of love, i fell for Austria, found that Europe sings out and calls me, like I can’t wait to return to the continent to speak up because of love. to sing out because of love. to walk alongside friends and make beautiful footprints of hope in their sand… because of love

- to go, to bring to the world, to the lost, to the poor and hungry RISEN HOPE because of love
