make it last

a culture of preservation…

what’s worth the wait/ the time/ the effort?

the more important matters

what are the matters in hand? why are we carrying them? what are the more important matters? we take life gladly by the hand, but forget there’ll be a little squeeze between our fingers on our time, our hearts, our preference…

i’m thinking hands.

imagining two people in eden, ‘handed a bundle of choices, but in a weak moment, dropped the binder that held them together, and nowadays each of us tries to regather those things in our hands again…’

so for us, when our hands eventually wrinkle, it would be better, even important, to make sure our work hasn’t been a waste of time; that our gathering hasn’t been of the wrong sort.

i’m thinking time.

choices and ‘matters’ are things we can give up but time isn’t something we ultimately give or can give up on… the earth time we thought we could hold or ‘give up’ is taken from us, even though our life/existance isn’t ended, time will dissolve to eternity. so what will we do till the last tick of time, to make the time last?

what we do, who we are… let it be devoted to the important, not the urgent… not just the matters in hand. i don’t want to be obligated, but instead have the will and strength to precede obligation. acting in love. seeking to help. realigning limitations.

watch the hands of time

slow the hands of time

the hold of time in your hands

holding up time

holding up time

  1. I like to preserve moments, pockets of time, seconds, glances, and glimpses… photographs and imprints in the sand are two of my favourites. but on the subject of the transient; I then fall in love with those intricacies that are immeasurable and unable to be captured… like the falling of a leaf on a breeze. you may catch the leaf in a photograph, but you’ll never capture the curve of the wind it floats on.

  2. we’re preserving the culture of advent candles at church this year, i’m glad… i want us to focus on the excitement of Christmas for the original Christmas reason -Jesus… so week by week goes ‘ hope, peace, joy, love… Light of the World who ‘preserves’ our very being

  3. i think what i see more and more (and hear from others) is that the good things in life are worth waiting around for… i like these ones

wait for the dough to rise
wait for the person who’ll sweep you off your feet
    wait til your wedding night
wait til you’re hungry for a good meal
wait so music means something-not just money
wait for someone to ask you
    wait for an honest reply
    wait for hope to rise
wait for God, foster waiting, establish the skill of listening, endure impatience until you enjoy the freedom to be outwith (out of) control

  4. The good things in life, start with life; start with the now and in this sense we needn’t ever wait – we must not ever wait. But when we do, when we have, so to speak, hope-in-the-waiting, the ever-approaching coming is beautiful. The hope in the future, that ever-present hope instilled in the promise of Christ’s return is what makes waiting worth waiting for. And, as such, it is what makes the inescapable now, so beautiful.

    I think.
